The Sheffield Half Marathon
2010
SHEFFIELD HALF MARATHON 2010
Sunday the 25th April saw us once again helping with the running of The Sheffield Half Marathon. We had over 80 volunteers helping by performing various jobs. assisting with the runners baggage handling, packing the luncheon bags for the 400 helpers, handing out the "Goodie Bags" and T shirts to the finnishers and manning water stations on Bramall Lane and Ecclesall Road. In addition we had a Brass Band with children and teachers from Birley Community School , assisted by some members of The Loxley Silver Band, resplendent in their MND T shirts to entertain the crowds on Ecclesall Road.
Then there were the runners in both the Half Marathon and the Fun Run, all contributing to a wonderful effort from the Branch. So far (19-7-10) we have received £12,660-34 in sposorship money and donations, with more still to come. The Branch will again be one of the charities involved in helping with the event in 2011.

Loxley Band Concert/ Garden Party
The Brass Band Concert on the 15th of May raised £718-44 and tthe Garden Party at 40 Newfield Crescent contributed an amazing £1916-64.
Each year the Kier group of companies organise and hold a series of fund raising events for the benefit of local charities. This year (2009/2010) they have chosen two charities, The Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice and our selves

70 Club
2009/2010
We have had another successful year and the membership has remained steady at 101. thank you so much for your continued support as it is so important to be able to rely every year on having available a steady £1500-00.

The subscription remains at £30-00 a member and the new year starts on 1st April, it is not to late to join and any one wishing to do so should contact Gordon.
